Abstract

The simplicity of use and short treatment times of second generation ablation techniques have increased the use of endometrial ablation in the treatment of menorrhagia. New techniques should be evaluated thoroughly before they are accepted into mainstream practice. Once treatment under local anaesthesia +/− conscious sedation has become accepted, the next step will be to explore the viability of moving out of theatre and into an out-patient setting.
